911 call released after man tries to lure boys with 'Pokemon Go'

911 call gives investigators clues

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – Police released a 911 call made by a group of middle school students on Wednesday claiming a man tried to lure them into his car using "Pokemon Go."

The boys told the operator they had just gotten off their school bus at the Hidden Springs Condominiums when the car approached them.

"There is this dude in a blue Prius, I think, and he tried to lure me and my friends in his car," the boy is heard telling the 911 operator.

He and his four friends can be heard explaining how the man tried to lure them away.

"He was like, 'Hey guys, do you play "Pokemon Go?" Because there's some Pokemon in here.' He tried to lure us in," the boys said.

The boys told Altamonte Springs police they screamed and the driver took off.

One man told News 6 his son was with the group of boys that afternoon and he has a lot of questions.

"I'm not sure what the intent of the guy is who tried to do this," he said.

The 911 call revealed the man was either white or Hispanic and had brown facial hair. The boys said he also wore glasses. They said they were not able to get his license plate number.

Anyone who has any information on who the driver may be can call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
