Man says Galaxy Note 7 exploded while charging

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – Samsung's newest smartphone is being blamed for sparking a car fire in Florida.

A Port St. Lucie man told police he was charging his Galaxy Note 7 inside his 2008 Hyundai Sonata when it burst into flames.

The driver was not hurt, but his car was completely destroyed.

Firefighters are trying to confirm if the phone was the cause of the fire.

Samsung has stopped all sales and shipments of the Galaxy Note 7 while it investigates dozens of fires reported around the world.
