Would-be burglars crash SUV into Titusville pawn shop

Police search for 3 culprits

TITUSVILLE, Fla. – Three masked culprits attempted to crash an SUV through the wall of a pawn shop Wednesday morning in Titusville as part of a failed burglary attempt, police said.

Officers responded to an alarm at Space Coast Pawn in the 300 block of Cheney Highway around 12:30 a.m.
An investigation revealed that the trio used concrete brick pavers on the accelerator of the SUV to send it into a wall of the business.

"We came on scene and found an SUV in the side of the building, running," said Amy Matthews, spokeswoman for Titusville Police. "Three masked individuals rigged the car to make it run with some brick pavers on the accelerator."

The stunt destroyed a reinforced door and a concrete wall, but the would-be burglars were unable to gain entry into the building. They fled in a silver Chevrolet sedan, police said.

"The car itself was stuck in the debris and they couldn't get past the debris to make entry into the building," said Matthews.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Titusville Police Department at 321-264-7800 or Crimeline at 800-423-8477.
