OCALA, Fla. – A 13-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy were shot and injured late Wednesday when shots were fired into an Ocala home, police said.
The drive-by shooting was reported on NW 9th Avenue, north of State Road 40.
The family identified the victims as Alany Singh and Ri'zaki Johnson.
"I want justice for my baby, my baby," Diann Richardson said.
Richardson is Sing's grandmother and Johnson's aunt. She says she was inside the house when the shooting happened.
"Boom, boom, bop, bop...everybody thought they were shooting fireworks cause they shoot them all the time," she said.
Ocala police say the victims were sitting on the couch when the drive-by-shooting happened. At least seven bullet holes pierced windows in the front of the home.
"They basically shot the house up. No regards to how many people in the house or whatever. It's just senseless," Sgt. Cynthia Barnes with the Ocala Police Department said.
The teens were taken to local hospitals, police said. Alany was later released, but the Johnson remains in critical condition. His family tells News 6 he is on life support.
There are no details about the shooter, but the teens' aunt told News 6 that a social media post may have prompted the shooting. Police say there may also be a feud going on between one the victims and a group of people.
"We're going to look at everything that was said, we're going to check into everything because at the end of the day we want to get whoever is responsible for this," Barnes said.
Barnes adds anyone with any information is asked to call Ocala Police.
"You may not think it's nothing much, but it may be part of the puzzle that we need to go ahead and apprehend whoever is responsible for this," she said.
