Police: 3 tourists robbed near I-Drive

No injuries reported

Three tourists were robbed Sunday near International Drive, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies responded at 8:20 p.m. to Parc Corniche Drive.

According to an incident report, two men who were with the women left to go get some drinks at the Walgreens and when the women heard the knock on the door they thought they must have forgotten something.

It turns out the knock on the door was the two robbers.

A woman and a man wearing a ski-mask and holding a knife held all three women hostage in the bedroom, according to the report. The report said the suspects forced the women on their knees with their hands on the bed while they rummaged through their belongings, and stole thousands of dollars worth of jewelry and electronics and hundreds of dollars in cash.

Tourists like Sandra Cooney had no idea why so many deputies were at the hotel, she's happy she's now headed back to Ireland.

"The helicopter was going all day we kind of thought it was a bit strange but we didn't realize what was going on and it just stood across the hall from us," Cooney said. "It's scary. It's very scary."

The Orange County Sheriff's Office has a special Tourism Oriented Policing Squad which is stepping up patrols along with normal deputies on patrol.

The robbers are described as a black male and female.

No injuries were reported, officials said.
