Video shows man holding woman, 9-year-old at gunpoint, deputies say

Incident reported at Dollar General in Marion County

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is looking for two men in connection with an armed robbery Monday.

Officers were called to the Dollar General Store off Marion Oaks Manor, where authorities said two men entered the store and robbed the employees at gunpoint.

A customer and her 9-year-old daughter were forced to the floor at gunpoint by one of the two men, deputies said.

The suspects were described as a black man and a white man in their 20s.

"They were heavily dressed. You know, hiding any possible identification and they entered the store. They went around the store and tried to, found as many clerks and customers as possible," said Lauren Lettelier, the Marion County Sheriff's Office PIO.

The black man was wearing all black clothing with a bandanna around his face.

The white man was wearing dark gray clothing, deputies said.

"When the detective was looking at it this morning with me, we were cutting up the video, looking at the video. Even then, he was looking at the video and he just couldn't even believe what he was seeing. So even for someone who does these cases on a daily basis, this is a horrendous crime. A very heinous crime," Lettelier said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Marion County at 352-368-STOP or 352-368-7867.
