Rosen Hotels gathers supplies for Haiti

ORLANDO, Fla. – A big effort is underway to help Haiti in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew.

On Friday, Rosen Hotels began collecting items like canned food, soap and first aid supplies to help the region of the country hit hardest by the storm.

Eldine Magnan, who is the director of housekeeping, grew up in Haiti and helped organize the relief effort.

"All across Haiti now is just pure devastation," said Magnan.

Donated supplies will go to a new school the Rosen Foundation opened in Haiti just days before the storm hit.The school is now being used as a shelter for those who lost their homes.

"Our hearts and prayers go out to the victims of Hurricane Matthew," said Harris Rosen, founder of the Rosen Foundation.  "We will continue our long-time support to the relief and sustainability efforts in Haiti and are doubly grateful that the school was completed in time to provide shelter during this tragedy."

Donations will be collected at the Rosen Plaza, which is located at 9700 International Drive.

The public is invited to drop off items between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday.
