Kids called for help for drunk mom, Melbourne police say
MELBOURNE, Fla. – Two children called police on Halloween because their mother was too drunk to drive, police said.
A 7-year-old girl and 12-year-old boy called Melbourne police when they needed help dealing with their mother, Melbourne police said.
When police arrived at 8:23 p.m. on Monday, they found Shaun Orlos, 41, sitting in the driver’s seat of her vehicle at a business on N. Wickham Road.
Officers reported Orlos smelled like alcohol and was slurring her speech. When she got out of the vehicle, she couldn’t stand without support.
Orlos has a suspended license and two previous DUI arrests. She was charged with two counts of child neglect, a felony DUI and driving with a suspended license, according to the report.
Orlos was booked into the Brevard County Jail Monday night and bonded out Tuesday morning.
