Emergency management official was no-show during Matthew, Flagler leaders say

A Flagler County emergency management official is facing allegations that she was nowhere to be found during Hurricane Matthew.

Jennifer Stagg was assigned to be the planning section chief for the Flagler Operations Center during the hurricane, but according to a letter from Flagler County leaders, she did not report to work during the storm.

Matthew left Flagler buried in debris, with more than 50,000 people without power, and parts of A1A destroyed.

During the hearing on Oct. 26, Stagg said she was never told her what her role was during the storm.

County leaders said there is documentation proving that she was informed and did not report to work.

Stagg is being charged with insubordination for refusing to perform work assigned and is suspended for at least five days.
