Woman shot while riding in car in Deltona, deputies say

Shooting victim taken to hospital for treatment


DELTONA, Fla. – A woman was shot while riding in a car early Tuesday in Volusia County, deputies said.

The shooting was reported from a home on Gage Avenue near Howland and Courtland boulevards in Deltona after the woman showed up at her boyfriend's house, Volusia County sheriff's deputies said.

According to deputies, the woman said she was riding in a car with a man when someone opened fire, striking her in the wrist.

The man who was driving the car got out of the vehicle, saying he didn't want to deal with the police.

The woman then drove the car to her boyfriend's house, deputies said.

The woman was taken to a hospital for treatment.

No other details have been released.
