Small plane crashes in Flagler

Pilot, passenger severely injured

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – Multiple people were injured when a plane crashed near a golf course in Ormond Beach Wednesday afternoon, officials said.

The crash was reported near Plantation Bay Golf & Country Club around 1:30 p.m.

The pilot and a passenger both suffered severe injuries from the crash. The two men, Joel Fallon and Josh Rosa both of Palm Coast, were pulled out from the wreckage and airlifted to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach.

“One patient has multiple broken bones and we have not been able to assess the injuries of the second patient,” Flagler County Fire Rescue Chief Don Petito said in a news release.

The men were traveling from Flagler County Executive Airport to DeLand when they crashed. A golfer who witnessed the crash made the initial 911 call at 1:28 p.m. and the pilot was also able to call authorities, who were able to use his GPS to determine his location.

Investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board will be investigating the crash.
