DeLAND, Fla. – A 13-year-old girl came home with missing fingernails and a bald spot on her head after she was jumped while leaving school, according to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.

The girl told deputies she was leaving Southwestern Middle School in DeLand Thursday afternoon when two people jumped her from behind. Authorities did not say if her assailants were students at the school.
