Video: Woman attempts to stop suspected carjacker as he drives off

Stolen vehicle has not been located

MELBOURNE, Fla. – A mother of two is recovering from road rash and other injuries after a man dragged her across a parking lot while stealing her car.

Brandy Johnson, 30, says the incident happened Sunday at the Chevron gas station at the corner of Brevard Ave and Babcock Street.

She told News 6 she left her keys on the floor of her car as she ran in to get her children some juice.

"I hear my car door open, and I haul butt out of the store," she said.

Surveillance video captured a man getting into her car, starting it and backing out of her parking space.

"All I could do was reach my hand in the window and try to grab the keys out, and he's biting my arm. Physically biting my arm," she said.

Cameras show other customers running to help Johnson whose arm was by then wedged in the car against the driver's side window.

The video shows the suspected thief dragged her around the parking lot before leaving the gas station. He let Johnson go in the middle of Babcock Street.

"Road burn. My knees. My ankles. My wrist is pretty much sprained because I landed on my wrist," she said.  "I had a big ol' goose egg on the back of my head from when I hit the pavement."

Johnson said she's glad her two children were not with her when this happened, and she wants people to see the man in the video.

She said she wants police to catch him and to find her car, which she had just bought two days before this incident.

"Justice will get you," she said. "You'll get what you deserve. I really hope so. I pray so."

If you recognize the man in the video, call CrimeLine at 1-800-423-TIPS.
