Brevard burglars caught on camera

Homeowner says he was out to eat at time of incident

MELBOURNE, Fla. – A homeowner in Brevard County tells News 6 that two thieves broke into his house, stealing about $1,200 in tools.

The burglars, however, were captured on surveillance video.

"You are feeling like completely invaded. I mean (I) can't believe it. I mean it's definitely shocking," Homeowner Robert Schepperle said.

Schepperle said his surveillance video caught the two people on Wednesday night. The video starts when the pair park their vehicle in front of his home on U.S. 1 in Brevard County at about 9:30 p.m.

Moments later, you see the man and woman walk up the driveway.

Schepperle said thankfully he was out to eat when the crooks hit.

"Fortunately I didn't come right back to the house, went to my parents, but it happened pretty quick so if I didn't go to my parents and came back home, I probably would of been here when they were here," Schepperle said.

Both the man and woman are seen wearing hats in the video.

Schepperle said the duo got away with an air compressors and other construction tools. He said a couple days ago he realized some tools were missing, so he reviewed his surveillance footage.

"I'm going to enhance my security. I'm going to have twice as many security cameras. I'm going to have my gates locked and chained," said Schepperle.

Anyone with information about the burglars is asked to call the Brevard County Sheriff's Office or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
