Lockdowns lifted at 3 Orange County schools; all students safe

ORLANDO, Fla. – An Orlando homeowner was shot in the face Tuesday morning while trying to stop up to four assailants from trying to steal his car, deputies said.

The shooting was reported at 8 a.m. on Megan Elissa Lane, prompting three nearby Orange County schools to be locked down. All students are safe, and the lockdowns were lifted about 90 minutes later, school officials said.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, two to four people were stealing a car from the driveway of a house when the homeowner confronted them. At least one of the culprits opened fire, striking the homeowner at least once in the face, deputies said.
