A Leesburg man was arrested for sexual battery against a child under 12 years old on Tuesday, the Leesburg Police Department said.
Police said Alex Jones, 26, is said to have made contact with the minor, sending her graphic messages and sexually battery her.
The mother of the victim told police on Nov. 23 that Jones had sent sexual explicit text message to her daughter on Nov. 21.
The victim’s mother told police that she believed that Jones was 18 years old.
In the messages, the victim said she replied to Jones and told him no when he made advances toward her.
“Can you stop texting that please,” the victim replied to one of the alleged messages.
The victim told police that she met Jones when she was walking to school.
Jones is a friend of the victim’s cousin.
The victim told police that she did receive messages from the defendant and denied having a physical relationship with him.
On Nov. 23, police made contact with Jones, and he denied the allegations.
The victim told police that she went to Jones’s home on Nov. 22, where she was sexually battered.
When police interviewed Jones on Tuesday, he told them that he knew the victim and had a friendly relationship with her.
Jones told police the victim was seductive and was upset that he was texting other girls, the report said.
Jones was charged with sexual battery on a child under 12 and sending obscene material to a minor.
