Cops: Melbourne man, woman, arrested for multiple drug charges

MPD: Manufacturing, trafficking methamphetamine among charges

MELBOURNE, Fla. – A Melbourne man and woman are being held in the Brevard County Detention Center on several drug-related charges, according to the Melbourne Police Department.

Police responded to the Legacy at Hibiscus Apartment complex on Tradition Circle Friday afternoon after receiving a call about a suspicious vehicle with two people who appeared to be sleeping inside, according to the police report.

MPD said that upon officers' arrival, they could see the pair sleeping in the front seat, and knocked on the car window, waking them up.

The two initially refused to open the door, but eventually complied with the officers, police said.

When the male driver, Dakota McBryar, 28, exited the vehicle, officers said they saw a container filled with a white powdery substance fall from his lap. They also observed several bags of drug paraphernalia throughout the vehicle, according to police.

McBryar and the passenger, Hillary Wegman, 27, were both taken into custody and booked at the Melbourne Police Department early Saturday morning before being transported to the Brevard County Detention Center, according to jail records.

Both are facing multiple drug charges, including trafficking over 20 grams of methamphetamine, possession of heroin, possession of cocaine, possession of clonazepam, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting an officer without violence, according to Melbourne police.

McBryar also has an active felony warrant for his arrest.

Wegman is being held on $33,000 bond. McBryar is being held without bond due to the active felony warrant for his arrest.
