Yankee recalls 31,000 candles over laceration risk

Officials are recalling more than 31,000 Yankee candles after consumers reported the glass jar breaking while the candle was lit, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

No injuries have been reported, but  company officials voluntarily recalled the candles after 16 customers said the cracked jars could pose a laceration risk.

"At Yankee Candle we pride ourselves on having the highest standards of quality," Yankee Candle president and CEO Hope Margala said in a statement. "Out of an abundance of caution and a firm commitment to safety, we have decided to request the immediate return of all Luminous Collection candles."

Yankee Candle’s Luminous Collection candles were sold nationwide for $35 each and online and at YankeeCandle.com, from September through November.

The recalled products have the following item numbers printed on the bottom of the glass jar:

1535651 - Sea salt and coral
1535890 - Blackberry and sage
1535891 - Apple blossom and melon
1535892 - Sugarcane and honey
1535893 - Pine and sandalwood
1535894 - Cinnamon and cedar

Consumers who purchased one of the affected products should stop using the candle immediately and contact the company for a full refund.
