Motorcyclist killed in multiple vehicle crash, officials say

All eastbound lanes of SR-405 shut down, FHP says

TITUSVILLE, Fla. – One person is dead after a crash involving two vehicles and a motorcycle, Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Specialist Steven Montiero said.

Officials said the crash happened Saturday morning on Columbia Boulevard, east of Vectorspace Boulevard, on the Indian River bridge.

A 19-year-old driver of a Saturn Ion was driving east on Columbia Boulevard while the driver of another vehicle and a motorcyclist were stopped on the same road due to the draw bridge being activated, according to the incident report.

The driver of the Saturn failed to stop as he approached them, striking the back of the other vehicle with the front of his car, the FHP said. The other vehicle then struck the back of the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, the Highway Patrol said.

Highway Patrol officials said the crash is still under investigation.

All eastbound lanes of State Road 405 were shut down at Vectorspace Boulevard.
