Victim hospitalized after shooting in Melbourne

Incident happens at English Park Condominiums

MELBOURNE, Fla. – A person was taken to a hospital after a shooting Saturday in Melbourne.

The Melbourne Police Department said it received 911 calls at 7:06 p.m. about a person banging on the door of one of the units within the English Park Condominiums neighborhood. The callers told police the person complained of having been shot.

Police said officers arrived at the scene and found the male victim, who appeared to have suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was treated by emergency personnel and taken to a hospital. Police said he was conscious, but did not provide much information at the time.

Officers were in the process of interviewing neighbors and potential witnesses, police said. A suspect was not identified.
