Orlando woman, 18, arrested in fatal hit-and-run motorcycle crash

Paul Issac Soto died in wreck, FHP troopers say

ORLANDO, Fla. – An 18-year-old Orlando driver turned directly into the path of a motorcyclist Tuesday evening, then sped off from the scene of the crash, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Trooper said Paul Issac Soto, 29, of Gotha, died in the Orange County crash, which was reported just before 6:20 p.m. in the area of Econlockhatchee Trail and Millinockett Lane.

The FHP said Soto was riding a 2006 Honda motorcycle when he was struck by a Mitsubishi driven by Xianna Rodriguez.

Soto was taken to a hospital after the wreck, but died of his injuries, the FHP said. Rodriguez was not injured, according to the FHP.

Rodriguez was heading north on Econlockhatchee Trail while Soto rode his motorcycle south on the same road, troopers said.

Rodriguez “conducted a left turn, directly into the path of (Soto),” the FHP report said, adding that the Orlando teen took off “immediately upon impact.”

She was tracked down and arrested a short time later, accused of leaving the scene of a deadly wreck, the FHP said.

Troopers also conducted an on-scene blood draw from Rodriguez, due to indicators of possible impairment, the FHP said.

Rodriguez bonded out of jail Wednesday night.

The crash remains under investigation.
