BUSHNELL, Fla. – Sumter County emergency workers rescued two people trapped in an overturned car that crashed around 10:20 a.m. Saturday on I-75 at mile marker 314 in Bushnell, officials said.

The overturned car was elevated on the lane divider guardrails, the county fire and emergency medical services crews said.

Firefighters said they spotted the victims trapped in the vehicle and began using the Jaws of Life to remove them. Crews were able to extricate both victims within 20 minutes.

The victims were taken to nearby hospitals to be treated for their minor injuries.

Firefighters credited airbags and the victims' use of seatbelts as the reasons their injuries were not more serious.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
