OPD announces New Year's Eve road closures

Police remind community to keep valuables out of sight, lock cars

ORLANDO, Fla. – Due to New Year's Eve celebrations, there is expected to be heavier vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the downtown area, according to the Orlando Police Department.

In an effort to help those who will be attending an event or traveling in the area, Orlando police have provided a list of street closures that will be in place Saturday night.

Beginning at 9 p.m., North Orange Avenue traffic will be closed to southbound traffic at Robinson Street, police said. Orange Avenue, Jefferson Street, Washington Street, and Central Boulevard will follow shortly after that.

Beginning at 10 p.m., east- and west-running streets heading into downtown from Garland Avenue and Rosalind Avenue will be closed.

Orlando police also asked that the community remembers to keep valuables out of plain sight and lock car doors.
