OCALA, Fla. – Officers responding to a reported suicide threat by a guest at a central Florida hotel fatally shot the 54-year-old white man, police said

The Ocala Star-Banner reports that Keven Ernest Tree was killed on Thursday at a Holiday Inn Express in Ocala.
Witnesses at the hotel said Tree had been threatening to kill himself with a gun before police shot him.
Tree's friend Laura Ferrier told the newspaper that he had health issues, and was living at the hotel because of a recent eviction.
Deputy Police Chief Rodney Smith says several officers were involved. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating.
