PALM BAY, Fla. – A man who Palm Bay police said robbed a bank while wearing a wig and a lime-green outfit was taken into custody after officers tracked him to a nearby home, News 6 partner Florida Today reported.
The robbery was reported about noon Thursday at a Bank of America bank branch at 1151 Malabar Road. Police set up a perimeter in a nearby neighborhood as they searched for the suspected robber.
"He was dressed like a woman and wore a wig," said Palm Bay police Lt. Mike Bandish. "He also was wearing a lime-green outfit, according to witnesses."
It was not immediately known if any money was taken during the robbery or if a weapon was used.
Witnesses said the man left the bank, jumped on a black bicycle and rode to a neighborhood off Malabar Road. SWAT team members surrounded the suspect's home within about 30 minutes of the bank robbery.
"He is now in custody," Bandish said.
