Police arrest bank robbery suspect dressed as woman in Palm Bay

Incident reported at Bank of America off Malabar Road

Lamar Coaston III, dressed in women's clothing, is accused of robbing a Palm Bay bank.

PALM BAY, Fla. – A man who Palm Bay police said robbed a bank while wearing a wig and a lime-green outfit was taken into custody after officers tracked him to a nearby home, News 6 partner Florida Today reported.

The robbery was reported about noon Thursday at a Bank of America bank branch at 1151 Malabar Road. Police set up a perimeter in a nearby neighborhood as they searched for the suspected robber.

"He was dressed like a woman and wore a wig," said Palm Bay police Lt. Mike Bandish. "He also was wearing a lime-green outfit, according to witnesses."

It was not immediately known if any money was taken during the robbery or if a weapon was used.

Witnesses said the man left the bank, jumped on a black bicycle and rode to a neighborhood  off Malabar Road. SWAT team members surrounded the suspect's home within about 30 minutes of the bank robbery.

"He is now in custody," Bandish said.
