Deputy John Braman is being investigated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the State Attorney’s Office. The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is also conducting an administrative investigation.

Braman, 33, was placed on administrative leave on Wednesday.

Braman was hired by the Sheriff’s Office on Jan. 1, 2007, and was assigned to road patrol. Before that, he worked as a motorcycle deputy in the Sheriff’s Office’s traffic unit.

"Integrity is the cornerstone of any law enforcement officer’s career. Once you lose your integrity, you’ve lost your ability to be an effective law enforcement officer," Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood said.

Braman was shot in the arm in the line of duty in 2011 and was injured in 2013 when he was struck by a car, authorities said.
