Shot fired into Brevard home strikes man in neck, deputies say

Victim airlifted to Holmes Regional Medical Center

MIMS, Fla. – Brevard County sheriff’s investigators continue to search for the person who shot and wounded a man in the neck.

The shooting was reported overnight Monday at a home on Fain Lane in Mims.

Deputies found an older unidentified man in the home bleeding and yelling in pain, officials told News 6 partner Florida Today.

The man's condition was not immediately known.

Investigators said the man called 911, saying that someone outside his home fired at least one round.

Deputies, unsure of whether the shooter might still be in the area, surrounded the home as the man continued to plead for help on the phone.

After securing the premises, deputies found the victim and called for medical assistance.

Brevard County Fire Rescue paramedics later treated the man and airlifted him to Holmes Regional Medical Center.
