Police search for gunman

PALM BAY, Fla. – Police are searching for a man who shot at a car as it crossed an overpass over Interstate 95.

Lt. Mike Bandish, of the Palm Bay Police Department, said both men inside the car were hit by bullets. The driver was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne.

"They said there was blood all over the car," Bandish said.

He said the shooting happened just after 2 a.m. Wednesday. The victims told investigators they were going home from the Pinups Nightclub when the car drove up next to them, and the driver shot at them.

They said they had gotten into an "altercation" with the man at the nightclub and thought it was over.

"I don't know if they noticed the car following them, but they were in the left-hand lane and a car came up in the right-hand lane and fired several rounds into the passenger side of the car that the two victims the two males were in," Bandish said.

Investigators are working with Pinups to get a copy of its surveillance video that might show a clear image of the suspect.

The video and the full police report should be released on Thursday, Bandish said.

Anyone who knows anything about this shooting is asked to call Palm Bay police at 321-952-3539.
