Port Orange man took lewd pictures of young girl, police say

Man's girlfriends turned him in, report says

PORT ORANGE, Fla. – A Volusia County man is accused of taking lewd pictures of his girlfriend's daughter, according to the Port Orange Police Department.

Two women, both of whom had been dating Nicklaus Faulk, came to the police department on Feb. 9 after one of the women said she found sexual pictures of a young girl on Faulk's phone, the charging affidavit said. The woman went on Facebook and realized the girl was the daughter of Faulk's other girlfriend.

The woman said she also found pictures of her own daughter, wearing only a T-shirt and underwear, that appeared to have been taken from outside the girl's bedroom window, police said.

She said Faulk had other voyeuristic pictures on his phone, but she was not able to identify those victims.

Faulk deleted several of the photos when he noticed the mother going through them and taking pictures, the report said.

Investigators recovered four images from the mother's phone.

Officers seized Faulk's cellphone under a warrant, but there was evidence that other files had been recently deleted, according to police.

The victim's mother was able to positively identify the girl in the photos as her daughter, and she added that they must have been taken recently, the report said.

News 6 stopped by Faulk's home, but no one answered the door.

According to the arrest affidavit, Faulk denied taking the photos and told police he did not commit a crime.

People in his neighborhood were shocked and disturbed by the accusations.

"I don't know what makes them go after children. It's really sad, but unfortunately happens everyday," neighbor Joan Brennan said.

"I think jail is a good place for him," neighbor Greg Weber said.

Faulk was arrested Tuesday on charges of sexual battery on a person younger than 12 and possession of a photo to promote child sexual performance. He is currently booked in the Volusia County jail on no bond.
