Daytona Beach Shores police arrested a Texas murder suspect Thursday evening.
Joe Earl Smith told police that he shot his uncle over a land dispute and had been evicted, authorities said.

Police said Smith was found sleeping in his car in a parking lot near 2970 S. Atlantic Ave.
Officers recognized Smith from an alert issued by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.
Smith told officers that he drove from Texas to Daytona to attend the races, a news release said.
