FHP: Vehicle hits, kills pedestrian near Lake Underhill, Dean roads

Driver returns to scene after taking off, arrested

ORLANDO, Fla. – A man has been arrested after a hit-and-run Friday night in the area of Lake Underhill Road and Dean Road, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Selgio Alvarado, 25, was driving a Honda east on Lake Underhill Road west of Dean Road. Troopers said a pedestrian, identified by the FHP as Bobby Rainey, 67, was attempting to cross Lake Underhill Road from north to south.

Rainey walked directly into the path of Alvarado's vehicle. Troopers said the front of the vehicle struck Rainey. She was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

The vehicle fled the scene immediately upon collision, troopers said. As troopers were securing the scene, Alvarado came back with his family.

Troopers said after further investigation, Alvarado was placed under arrest on charges including hit-and-run with serious bodily harm or death, and driving while license suspended. His bond was set at $15,000.

Alvarado posted bond on Saturday, prior to his first court appearance.
