Driver tries to ram vehicle during Orlando road rage incident, deputies say

Victim has to swerve to avoid being hit

ORLANDO, Fla. – A driver attempted to ram another vehicle multiple times Monday during a road rage incident on Palm Parkway in Orlando, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

The encounter started when Steven John Collins, 26, pulled out from a parking lot onto Palm Parkway without stopping first, almost hitting the victim, an affidavit said. The victim slowed down to avoid being hit.

When the victim stopped his Lincoln Town Car at a stop sign on nearby Lake Street, Collins pulled up next to him, got out of his vehicle and started to yell incoherently, deputies said.

The victim drove off to avoid an altercation. Collins continued to follow the man and attempted to ram his car six times while hurling profanities and threats, urging the victim to pull over so they could fight, according to the affidavit.

The victim called 911 while continually slowing down and changing lanes so Collins wouldn't hit him with his black Mazda, authorities said. The victim told deputies he feared for his safety. A passenger in the vehicle corroborated the victim's story.

Collins, of Kissimmee, denied following the victim. He is charged with aggravated assault with a motor vehicle. He posted $5,000 bond Monday afternoon.
