Teen accused of injuring Orlando officer due in court

Edward Kelty to be arraigned on new charge

ORLANDO, Fla. – The teen accused of running over and badly injuring an Orlando police officer is due in court Tuesday.

Edward Kelty is expected to face a judge for an arraignment on a new charge of felony aggravated assault.

That additional charge was added by prosecutors last month.

After Tuesday's arraignment, Kelty is expected to appear at a status hearing ahead of his trial next month.

Kelty was 17 years old when prosecutors say he ran over officer William Anderson during a traffic stop in 2015.

Anderson recently announced his injuries were so severe he will never be able to return to his job.
