Man dies after being pulled from burning home, PCFR says

PCFR: Cause of fire being investigated

MULBERRY, Fla. – A man who firefighters pulled from a burning home in Mulberry early Sunday morning has died, Polk County Fire Rescue officials said.

Firefighters arrived at the home on Windsor Lane around 12:40 a.m., and found a woman outside using a garden hose to spray the flames, PCFR said.

Crews searched the home and found the man unconscious inside, the Fire Rescue said. They pulled the man out from the house and life-saving measures were performed on him as he was transported to South Florida Baptist Hospital in Plant City, officials said. The man was pronounced dead at the hospital at 1:44 a.m., PCFR said.

The Bureau of Arson Investigations is investigating the cause of the fire, Polk County Fire Rescue said. The Polk County Sheriff's Office is carrying out the death investigation.
