Community gets results for woman whose bike was stolen

Woman, 11-year employee of Publix uses bike to get to work

SANFORD, Fla. – A woman whose bike was recently stolen was surprised Sunday afternoon after community members came together to get results.

Pierreisna (last name) has worked as a bagger at the Publix supermarket on Lake Mary Boulevard for 11 years. Debbie Swan has lived in the area and shopped at the grocery store for seven years. Over the years, Debbie Swan says she's seen (Pierreisna) riding her bike back and forth from work.

Last Friday, Swan said she was checking out when (Pierreisna) walked by and smiled as usual. The women were walking outside when Swan asked (Pierreisna) if she was still riding her bike. That's when (Pierreisna) told her that her bike was stolen, and that she had been walking to and from work. Swan told (Pierreisna) that she'd be asking around to see if anyone had an extra bike.

Swan quickly took to Facebook, asking her friends if anyone had a bike they would donate to (Pierreisna).

One man saw Swan's post and used the information to start a GoFund Me page name "Replace stolen bike for Pierreisna." Community members saw the page and quickly got results for (Pierreisna).

In two days, the page raised enough money to buy (Pierreisna) not only a new bike, but a helmet, water bottle, pump, lock and clothes, too. Swan and some of those who donated were able to surprise (Pierreisna) with the gifts outside of Publix Sunday afternoon.
