Man in Nike sweatshirt caught on camera burglarizing home, deputies say

Laptops, jewelry stolen from Port St. John home

PORT ST. JOHN, Fla. – Deputies are looking for a man who was caught on surveillance video breaking into a Port St. John home Monday afternoon, according to the Brevard County Sheriff's Office.

Victim Vickie Woods said the man snagged two laptop computers and jewelry, then fled the home before deputies could arrive.

"You never expect anything like this to happen," Woods said. "You expect to come home and find your home they way that you left it."

She added that the laptops had irreplaceable pictures of her loved ones on them.

After the burglary, Woods' family put the surveillance video on Facebook. In just 24 hours, it had been watched 21,000 times.

One man commented that someone matching the burglar's description broke into his girlfriend's car Monday afternoon.

"That makes me feel great, to have the community behind you," Woods said.

She's hoping someone will be able to identify the man who broke into her home.

"It would give me a sense of peace, knowing that this person has been caught and can't do this to someone else," Woods said.

The man was wearing a white, long sleeve, hooded sweatshirt with a large “Nike” emblem on the front.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Brevard County Sheriff's Office at 321-264-5210 or Crimeline at 321-423-TIPS (8477).
