VIERA, Fla. – Happy birthday, Deputy Jim Troup.
Troup turns 72 on Friday, making him one of the oldest active duty deputy sheriffs in the state of Florida.
Troup has been a member of the Brevard County Sheriff's Department for the past 35 years.
It doesn't look like retirement is in Troup's future any time soon. The Brevard Sheriff's Office Facebook page wrote, "even after 35 years (Troup) loves coming to work every day to protect our citizens."
Brevard Sheriff Wayne Ivey said Troup knows practically everyone in the south end of Brevard county, and is well respected by both citizens and his colleagues.
Don't let his age fool you. Ivey said Jim is "in amazing shape and proudly tells everyone he loves his job, his agency and his community."
