Florida Highway Patrol investigating fatal crash in Orange County

Man rear-ends car, strikes utility pole, troopers say

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that left a man dead Saturday night, troopers said.

William Luis, 55, of Orlando, was driving west on Sand Lake Road around 9 p.m. when the vehicle in front of him came to a stop for traffic ahead, troopers said. Luis failed to stop and rear-ended the car before his car crossed the eastbound lanes of traffic and traveled south from the westbound side of the road, and struck a utility pole, the Highway Patrol said.

Luis was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, troopers said.

Troopers said the driver of the other vehicle was not injured in the crash.
