TITUSVILLE, Fla. – A Titusville man is accused of snatching a woman's purse, hitting her with his car when she tried to stop him and then speeding away from the scene, the Titusville Police Department said.
The woman was at the Walmart at 3175 Cheney Highway around 10:45 a.m. Friday taking her empty shopping cart to the cart corral when Christopher Lynn Braun, 25, grabbed her purse from her vehicle, according to a news release.
Braun hit the victim with his 2006 Hyundai Sonata when she tried to stop him from fleeing the scene, police said. The woman suffered minor injuries.
Detectives saw Braun speeding near Park Avenue and Dixie Avenue within minutes of the crime being reported, according to the release. Braun was arrested after he parked his car at a nearby residence.
Police said the victim's cellphone was found in a tree at the intersection of Hickory Boulevard and Cheney Highway and the victim's purse was found in bushes on Brittany Way.
Charges against Braun are pending.
