Cops: Suspect, victim facing charges after shooting in Daytona Beach

Victim shot in arm, stomach in Daytona Beach, police say

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Daytona Beach Police Department is investigating after a man was shot Saturday morning, police said.

Police said a shooting that took place at the 500 block of Jean Street left Derrick Bell, 38, injured. 

Bell had been shot in the arm and stomach and was taken to Halifax Health Medical Center, where he underwent surgery, police said.

Officers did not immediately know what happened, but said they were questioning someone about the incident.

Police later said that Bell had gotten into an altercation with the accused shooter, Chauncey Bryant, 26. Bryant was arrested in connection with the shooting after he was questioned by police, Daytona Beach police said. He was charged with aggravated battery.

Officers said Bell is also a convicted felon. He was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
