Trial to begin for man accused of running down Orlando officer

Edward Kelty charged with attempted second-degree murder


ORLANDO, Fla. – The trial for the man accused of running over an Orlando police officer during a traffic stop is scheduled to begin Monday.

Investigators said Officer William Anderson pulled over Edward Kelty in 2015 when Kelty suddenly took off, hitting Anderson in the process.

Anderson suffered traumatic injuries that eventually forced him to retire.

Kelty is charged with attempted second-degree murder.
