Pedestrian dies after being hit by SUV in Osceola County, FHP says
Roadway remains closed in area
OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – A person was hit and killed by an SUV Thursday night on U.S. 192, near Vineland Road in Osceola County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Troopers said the victim was 62-year-old Amelia Nucum.
She was struck about 9:30 p.m. and died before she could be taken to a hospital.
The vehicle that hit the pedestrian, a white SUV, left the scene of the crash and headed eastbound on U.S. 192, the FHP said.
The eastbound U.S. 192 area, near the Key Motel, was closed due to the wreck, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office said. Drivers were advised to be patient with traffic and detours.
The owner of a white 2012 Nissan Murano called FHP Friday morning and told troopers that his vehicle had been involved in a crash. Troopers responded to a residence in Kissimmee and determined that the Murano was involved in the hit and run crash, according to a news release.
Troopers are trying to determine who was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash.
Anyone with information about the driver is asked to call Crimeline or the FHP at 407-737-2213.
