Skeletal remains found by hunter ID'd as missing Deltona woman

DELTONA, Fla. – Skeletal remains discovered by a hunter in November have been identified as a missing Deltona woman, deputies said Thursday.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office said it believed that she was possibly with her ex-boyfriend.

Seven weeks later, a hunter discovered human remains in a wooded area off Broadway Avenue in Ormond Beach. The remains have since been identified as Marquez-Rivera, deputies said.

Her cause of death is not known, but it is being treated as a homicide.

The vehicle that she had been driving was recovered in the northeastern United States, deputies said.

Detectives have interviewed Marquez-Rivera’s ex-boyfriend, but no charges have been filed.

An investigation is continuing.
