Orlando house fire investigated as arson after gas can found in yard

Residents safely escape home on Mooreland Street

ORLANDO, Fla. – Several people escaped an Orlando house fire late Thursday that may have been intentionally set.

The fire was reported around 11:45 p.m. at a home in the 4700 block of Mooreland Street, near the intersection of Edgewater Drive and Rose Avenue.

There were at least five people inside the home, but no one was injured. They told News 6 that they believe the fire was set by someone because they found a gas can in their backyard.

The house sustained major damage.

The state fire marshal will investigate the blaze.

The American Red Cross is assisting the family.
