Melvyn originally told deputies the victim stabbed himself while trying to take his own life, but later said she stabbed him to get him to stop arguing with her, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital for his injuries, where he remained in critical condition Saturday afternoon, deputies said.

Deputies said Melvyn was arrested and charged with attempted homicide. She is being held at the Marion County Jail on a $100,000 bail.
