Brevard rescue crews respond to multiple crashes overnight

3 patients airlifted to hospitals, officials say

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – Brevard County Fire Rescue crews responded to two crashes early Saturday morning.

Fire officials said the first crash happened around 1:30 a.m. at the intersection of North Courtenay Parkway and Richland Avenue in Merritt Island. The crash involved two vehicles and at least one person was trapped inside one of the vehicles, crews said. Two people were injured and airlifted to a nearby hospital, officials said.

The southbound lanes of Courtenay Parkway were shut down following the crash.

Fire rescue officials said at least one person was trapped inside a vehicle when it overturned around 3:15 a.m. near the Beachline at I-95 in Canaveral Groves. One person was airlifted to a nearby hospital, crews said. The Cocoa Fire Department also responded to the incident.
