Volunteer: Acts of love and kindness

People who want to volunteer with community nonprofits can sign up at OneOrlandoalliance.org. Parents of the shooting victims are also sharing 49 acts of kindness on June 12. See how you can participate.

The Center remembers Pulse

In the days after the shooting The Center became a place of healing for those affected. The Center Orlando will unveil its new facilities on Mills Avenue on June 12 to make the one year of the shooting.

Events on June 12 start at 9 a.m. and continue all day.

UCF remembers 

The University of Central Florida will host a day of reflection Thursday.

Students and alumnus painted a mural to remember the tragedy and honor the victims. A 7:30 p.m. ceremony will unveil the mural at the Pegasus Ballroom of the Student Union.

Millican Hall will be lit in Pride colors during the evening from June 8 through 12.

OneBlood remembrance drive

On June 12, 2016 blood donors were crucial and the city responded by the thousands.
OneBlood is hosting a remembrance blood drive from June 7 to June 12. Donors will receive a “Still Strong, Still United, Still One” T-shirt.

Orange County sheriff honors the victims

Sheriff Jerry Demings will host a wreath presentation ceremony Monday at 8 a.m. in honor of the 49 killed. The presentation will take place outside the Central Operations Building at 2500 West Colonial Drive.

Orlando Ribbon Project

Since June 12, 2016 Ben Johansen has made more than 300,000 rainbow ribbons to spread love and hope.

The Orlando Ribbon Project is asking Central Florida residents and beyond to wear a rainbow ribbons in support of the remembrance on June 12.

The Dru Project

The Dru Project, founded in honor of Pulse victim Christopher Andrew “Drew” Leinonen, will have its official launch party on June 11 at The Abbey from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Attendees will reflect on Leinonen's life and the first $1,000 "Spirit of Drew" scholarship will be awarded. Click here for more information on the project and the event.

Human rainbow

Fourty-nine members of BASE Orlando will paint their bodies and form a human rainbow at The Other Bar on June 11 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. More information on the event is available here.

One City - One Pulse

CityArts Factory will be displaying pieces created by artists from the LGBT, Latinx, and the Orlando community that are meant to illustrate diversity and inclusion.

Free Counseling available June 12

Two Spirit Counseling will have a respite tent at Pulse on Monday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Therapists will be offering their service for anyone who needs them. Read more about Two Spirit Health Services here.

Gather + Love Orlando

Yelp Orlando and GOBIG Marketing will host a gathering Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. to celebrate life and love in Orlando, as well as honor the 49 victims.

Attendees can add their mark on a mural by Local Love Orlando and Hannah Zuk will lead a short mediation at 10 a.m. RSVP on the Facebook event here.

Rainbow bagels to support Orlando United Day

Rainbow bagels at Brooklyn Water Bagel

Brooklyn Water Bagel's Winter Park and Lake Mary store locations will serve rainbow bagels Saturday though Monday with 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit Better Together Fund at Central Florida Foundation.

Tattoo donation to OnePulse Foundation

The Thirty Six Black Art Collective, at 1809 S. Orange Ave., will offer all Pulse-related tattoos for $60, half of the proceeds will go to the OnePulse Foundation. Learn more at thirty6black.com.
