Robber who punched Family Dollar store clerk in face sought, deputies say

ORLANDO, Fla. – A robber who punched a store clerk in the face when attempting to steal from a Family Dollar store is being sought, the Orange County Sheriff's Office said.

The incident happened around 9 a.m. Monday at the Family Dollar store at 5700 North Hiawassee Rd.

Deputies said the robber grabbed a laundry bag while in the store and placed three laundry detergent containers inside the bag. He then walked out of the store, passing all points of sale.

The store clerk confronted the robber outside the store and grabbed the laundry bag. Deputies said that's when the robber punched her in the face and pulled the bag away from her, causing it to rip open.

The robber ran to his nearby bicycle and fled in an unknown direction, deputies said.

The robber is described by deputies as a bald, dark-skinned black male who is 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs around 180 pounds. He has brown eyes.

Anyone who knows the robber's whereabouts or details about the robbery may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000, authorities said. Crimeline can be reached by calling 800-423-TIPS (8477).
