Polk County teacher arrested on drug charges, deputies say

Deputies: Jesse Keen Elementary teacher found with cocaine

LAKE WALES, Fla. – A teacher at Jesse Keen Elementary School in Lakeland was arrested Tuesday evening after deputies found cocaine inside a vehicle at her home, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies were at the teacher's home conducting an investigation into a separate case when they found cocaine in her purse, according to an arrest report.

More cocaine was also found in the center console of a truck at the teacher's home, deputies said.

The woman admitted that she had "recently started using cocaine" and would have tested positive for it, deputies said.

She was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, providing false information to law enforcement officers during an investigation and maintaining a vehicle for drug use.

News 6 is not identifying the woman, as deputies have said she was a victim of domestic violence.
