Man on 'Most Wanted' list caught in Marion County

Dylan Veith, 35, facing 13 charges, sheriff says

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – Marion County sheriff's deputies said they captured one of their agency's "most wanted" after a high-speed chase.

Sheriff Billy Woods announced the arrest of Dylan Veith, 35, on Facebook. He said his deputies were trying to arrest Veith on a warrant on Monday when they saw him in a truck driving away.

Dashboard camera footage obtained by News 6 shows the truck hitting one deputy's patrol car before speeding away.

The video shows the truck picking up speed through heavy rain. It's also seen driving in the opposite lanes and driving through a stop sign.

The chase came to an end when the truck plowed into a ditch.

The video shows the driver running away, with a police dog tackling him across the street.

Deputies identified the driver as Veith.

News 6 investigated and found out Veith has an extensive criminal history, including allegations that he took deputies on at least three other chases within one week earlier this month.

The deputy he's accused of hitting in his last chase said he had pursued Veith one other time.

"I got into one pursuit with him where he ran into Lake County," Detective Dave Resnick said. "He was charged with grand theft auto, driving with a suspended license, habitual offender and felony fleeing of a law enforcement officer."

Deputies said Veith was wanted for stealing several other cars in Marion County, as well.

Woods said Veith is facing 13 charges.

Veith is being held in the Marion County Jail without bail.
